Apsides

Privacy policy

Last updated October 1, 2026

Apsides is a private, invite-only app for running a shared household: bills, a shared phone plan, calendars and school notes. It's built and run by Preston Vaughn. This page says what it keeps about you, why, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. The short version: only what the app needs to work, never sold, never used for advertising.

What Apsides keeps

  • Your account: your name, email address and role, set up when an admin invites you. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and stored only as a secure hash.
  • Household and bills: the charges, payments and receipts on your balance, bills and documents an admin uploads (such as utility bills, phone bills and the lease), and maintenance requests.
  • The phone plan:the lines on the shared plan, including phone numbers, devices and what each line owes, read from the carrier's bill.
  • Payments:card and bank payments are handled by Square. Your full card number goes straight to Square and never to Apsides; we keep only the card brand, last four digits and Square's reference numbers. Square keeps a customer record with your name and email so saved cards work.
  • Calendars: your calendars and events, who you share them with, and the addresses of any calendar feeds you connect.
  • Notifications: reminders sent to you, and, in the iPhone app, a push token from Apple so they can reach your phone.
  • Usage:anonymous page-view counts (Vercel Analytics), which use no cookies and don't identify you.

What stays on your device

  • Notebooks:your Academia notes and handwriting are stored on the device you write them on, not on our servers. When you choose to convert a lecture into a lesson, its pages are sent to Anthropic's Claude to be read, and the result comes back to your device. Anthropic doesn't use that data to train its models.
  • Face ID:handled entirely by your iPhone. If you choose to sign in with Face ID, your login is kept in the iPhone's Keychain. Apsides never receives your face data.

How it's used

Only to run the app: to show you your balances and schedule, to take payments you make, and to send the reminders and notices you'd expect. Apsides doesn't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.

Who can see it

  • You.
  • The admins of your household, who manage accounts and bills. They can see balances and payments, but never your password or card number.
  • People you choose to share a calendar with.
  • The services that run the app, each only for its own part: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting), Square (payments), Resend (email), Apple (push notifications) and Anthropic (notebook conversion, only when you ask for it).

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, any time, in Settings → Delete account. That removes your name, email and sign-in, your saved cards (at Square too), your calendars, shares, notifications and push tokens, and the notebooks on the device you delete from.

Charges and payments you were part of are kept, under “Former member” with nothing that identifies you, because they're part of other people's balances and the household's financial records. If you're the household's only admin, you'll need to make someone else an admin first.

You can also ask for deletion, or a copy of your data, by emailing prestonv2004@gmail.com.

Security

Everything travels encrypted over HTTPS. The database checks every request against who is asking, so each person sees only what their role allows.

Children

Apsides isn't meant for children under 13, and doesn't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Questions go to prestonv2004@gmail.com.
